DESIGNING THE CAPITAL: L'ENFANTS GRAND PLAN
the sunset tour

City designer Peter (Pierre) L'Enfant’s city plan for this magnificent capital is now largely forgotten. But his visionary plan blended the best examples of European capitals, ancient Greece and Rome. Our expert guide will illuminate this historic plan, the grand monuments, and the surrounding architecture as these sites unfold in front of you on this cruise. See where we go.

Even if you’ve been on a river tour in Washington before, don’t miss this fascinating journey into the capital’s past. Our weekend dates are a terrific activity for families too.

Our tours mostly take place during sunset or a bit ealier - what photographers call the “golden hour”-, when the light falling on the monuments and bridges provides the richest hue.

Beverages – including a wine and beer bar – will be available for purchase onboard.

The cruise takes approximately two hours. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
